Every practice exam you’ve taken gives you a percentage score. It feels objective, but it isn’t: the NREMT doesn’t score based on percentages. The actual exam is adaptive—it estimates your ability and stops as soon as it is sufficiently certain whether you are above or below the passing line. A 78% on a fixed-length exam doesn’t tell you which side of that line you fall on. It is the wrong metric, presented with unearned confidence, right when you are about to pay the exam fee and schedule a date.
